It was an ok read. Nothing new here. I didn't love this volume, nor did I hate it. Anyhow, this was my showtime read from this author and I'm impressed by her writing mode. Moreover, these Cunningham brothers are all swoon-worthy and so I volition keep this series for sure.

Crawly beginning to what I promise to exist a swell series. Nosotros are introduced to the brothers in Ryker'south family (future hero's)

Second chance stories can be iffy. In that location is always the question of if they waited for each other, is there someone in their lives now etc....

Ryker and Mary Ann were extremely young when they were separated (thirteen years onetime). Distance and intervention from a meddling family fellow member kept them from keeping in bear upon. They happen upon each other again when Mary Ann needed him the most.

They typically don't pack plenty punch for me to believe the couple are "it" for each other. I exercise have to say that I really enjoyed Maryann and Ryker'southward story.

The Officer's Promise is a second chance story centered on Maryann and Ryker. They were together in their teens and were deeply in love; now I hear ya, xiii twelvemonth olds in love? What do they know? I really loved the flashback scenes with Ryker and Maryann. The author actually fabricated y'all feel their dear; they were very sweet and Ryker was a pretty swoon worthy teen.

These ii are separated but reunited years later when they cross paths at a deli. Ryker can run into that Maryann is in a unsafe and abusive situation. I liked Ryker; he is very sweet, protective, and he becomes the friend she desperately needs. This is one affair I really loved about the story. You see Maryann struggle merely she has to come to her own conclusion to exit. Maryann has work to do and I liked that Ryker stood by and waited while she institute her footing. Naught frustrates me more than an abuse story where the Blastoff hero comes in and suddenly her problems are gone. I remember the author did a fine job of taking Maryann down the path of finding herself.

I would say that my only disappointment is that the story could have been longer. Novellas are tricky for this reason, and why they are a hard sell for me. I felt the ending was a bit rushed because I would have liked some more fourth dimension with Maryann healing, and to encounter more than of Ryker and Maryann as a couple. But all in all this was a swell intro to a new series and I will definitely be picking up the adjacent volume. Well Done!

This is Ryker and MaryAnn'south story and is a novella as opposed to the rest of the books being full length novels. They were all-time friends every bit children and when they were thirteen Ryker told MaryAnn that he really liked her and she admits that she has been falling for him - this role of the book is very sweet and made me grin. A huge life effect for MaryAnn sees her moving away and they lose rails until a chance meeting years later on. Ryker is a cop . MaryAnn is cleaved and scared. They reconnect and sparks fly but when MaryAnn faces very real danger volition Ryker exist able to proceed her safe?

This was a good story that introduces the other brothers effortlessly and definitely caught my interest. At the heart of information technology is a potent family dynamic.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No
Triggers? Aye, domestic violence is present in this book both on and off the page.

I cannot even explain how utterly perfect Ryker was. His acceptance of Maryann'southward whole state of affairs just amazed me. There was admittedly no uncertainty in this human being, and even though Maryann considered herself weak; the utter forcefulness she had to not only suffer, simply besides overcome her situation shows just how strong she really was.

The description was smashing with a serious potential for 5 stars. And all the same.
The starting time star vanished when I got to know the heroine. She was understandably overcome with fear, and still I somehow detect her character lacking. No stable personality. She used to be this potent, laughing daughter etc. She became scared and damaged. That is fine. Merely during her recovery I couldn't see any character development. She was just so whiny, airy and aristocratic even after recovery...I couldn't connect with her or her situation at all.
The second star vanished when she only few days later on recovery started to experience attracted to the Hero. Few days. Nope. Only nope.
And and then her interaction with his brothers. After years of abuse and violence, she was totally ok with being touched and manhandled by 6 very tall and physically strong people who she idea didn't desire her and had abandoned her? Nope. That is non how violated victims feel. If she was so damaged and scared equally she was described,so her anxiety wouldn't permit that. Nope.
And the third star vanished with the pregnancy. It just became sooooo cliche. A daughter suffers from abuse and claims to have emotional and physical scars, and notwithstanding isn't afraid of physical and sexual contact, hands overcomes her abandonment issues, noone else seems to have a problem with the fact, that she but left them all and thought they were unfeeling a-holes,that didn't desire her.
